Environment & Disposal

Instructions for the Disposal of Used Batteries and Accumulators

As a consumer, you are legally required by the Battery Act to dispose of used batteries and accumulators at designated collection points. Disposal in household waste is not permitted.
Batteries and accumulators containing hazardous substances are identified by the trash can symbol (crossed-out trash can). They are also marked with the chemical symbol of the respective hazardous substance contained in the battery or accumulator:

  • Cd: Cadmium
  • Hg: Mercury
  • Pb: Lead

Instructions for Disposal of Electrical Appliances

Removable batteries and accumulators must be separated from the electrical appliance before disposal and disposed of separately at designated collection points. Electrical appliances that are marked with a trash can symbol – either on the packaging or on the appliance itself – must not be disposed of with household waste. Instead, these devices must be taken to public collection points for disposal.

If you have purchased a device from us, by law we are required to dispose of a similar old device at no charge for you. There are various options depending on the type of device:

  • If you purchased a device from us that has a screen area of more than 100 cm2 or that is larger than 50 cm, we can take back this or a similar old device "at the doorstep" (or at the location of the new device delivery) upon request. Alternatively, you can send your old device back to us free of charge or drop it off at a public collection point in Germany (e.g., recycling center).
  • If you purchased a device from us that has a screen area smaller than 100 cm2 or that is smaller than 50 cm, please take it to one of the public collection points in Germany (e.g., recycling center). The disposal costs are covered by general fees paid by Bresser GmbH.
