Astronomy FAQ: Products

Here you will find typical product-related questions about astronomy.

Price & Models

The AR-152S/760 is a four-element lens (similar to the Petzval design). At shorter focal lengths, chromatic aberrations become more pronounced, which must be corrected through a more complex design and manufacturing process – this creates the price difference.
No. AR = AC = Achromat, meaning a classic Fraunhofer refractor. The different names are simply due to the branding policies of different retailers. It is the same product.

Eyepieces & Accessories

Yes, both series are FMC.
They are a modified Erfle design (also FMC).
This needs to be tested on a case-by-case basis. However, we generally guarantee flawless performance even on fast optics – including off-axis.

Counterweights & Mounts

No, for EXOS-2/MON-2, you need the 4.5-kg counterweight.

The MON-1 supports up to about 6 kg. An AR-102s/600 works very well with it – ideal for relaxed observations of larger areas of the sky.
Only for BRESSER Messier mounts MON-2 or EXOS-2.

Also, it is only compatible with the BRESSER Messier series with MON-2 or EXOS-2.

Power Supply

We recommend the 12V/2A power supply (Item No. 0455121).
A power supply is not included in the package. The telescope comes standard with a battery holder for 8 batteries (type: C cells, LR14, or R14). Depending on the weather, these batteries provide a runtime of about 15–20 hours.

Optionally available is the 12V / 2A power supply (Item No. 0455121), which is suitable for both home use and connection to a vehicle's cigarette lighter. It includes a 7.5-meter cable with an adapter for the cigarette lighter.

Scope of Delivery & Weight

  • Size/Weight: 60 × 30 × 120 cm, 29 kg
  • Including packaging: 32 kg
Yes, it is included with this model.

No, the scope of delivery only includes the tube.

Yes, easily. Please specify whether you use Canon or Nikon so that the correct corrector can be provided.

Optics & Eyepiece Recommendations

  • For approximately 73x: 25–26 mm eyepiece
  • For approximately 254x: 7 mm or smaller (e.g., BRESSER 5.5 mm 60° eyepiece)
Yes, it is usable. However, individual eyepieces are recommended for the best performance.

Camera & Photography

The original eyepieces are no longer available, but you can use 25 mm or 9 mm MA eyepieces.
With the BRESSER camera adapter (1.25") plus T2 ring for Sony.
Yes, with a parallactic mount like the EXOS-2 GoTo – for exposures up to 2–3 minutes. For the Moon/planets, an azimuthal mount is also sufficient.

Yes, with a 31.7 mm camera adapter and the appropriate T2 ring.
Upright, but inverted. With the Amici prism (Item No. 4930210), it will be correctly oriented.
Yes, with an additional focal adapter.
Yes, with a focal adapter + appropriate T2 ring. Well suited for the Moon/planets.

Operation & Technology

Pure parallel operation is not possible. However, you can use the navigation buttons on the controller to move and position the telescope anywhere in the sky. By releasing the two axes, you can of course freely orient the telescope and quickly change direction, but the axes must then be locked again.

Above 100x, chromatic aberration occurs; below that, the image remains color-accurate. Above 200x, the image becomes noticeably darker.

No, the optical path is designed for an APS-C sensor. Any apparent vignetting depends on the eyepiece.

No, this is available separately.

They are intended for possible future expansions, but currently have no function.

It is a spherical mirror – a classic Newtonian reflector.

Yes, the version with the EXOS-2/EQ5 is available.

Dobson Telescopes

Yes, Dobsons are very popular with beginners due to their easy handling. The tube can also be mounted on a mount later on.

No, due to its low design, it is stable enough.
Yes, this model is also easy to use despite its size.

High-Quality Optics

Each device is tested in our optical measurement room and, if necessary, adjusted. You will receive flawless, high-quality optics.
Yes, and the adjustment remains stable for many years.
Yes, including a reducer adapter to 1.25".
