A story of success since almost 60 years: BRESSER is the specialist for optical instruments, weather stations and photostudio equipment. With currently 75 employees BRESSER has developed a global distribution network, which is unique for this market segment. Many cooperations e.g. with DLR Deutsches Luft- und Raumfahrtzentrum, the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Wissenschaft, Institut für Umwelt- und Zukunftsforschung, Jüdischer Nationalfonds JNF-KKL, Jugend forscht and many universities and observatories, illustrate the expertise of BRESSER .

BRESSER: The Beginnings

1957
Foundation

The company BRESSER Optik was founded by Mr. Josef Bresser. Josef Bresser was one of the first importers of high-quality binoculars from Japan. Old records from that time reveal Josef Bresser's foresight, as he was already able to predict the development of the commercial landscape with remarkable accuracy.

1979

After the sudden death of the company's founder, his son Rolf takes over the business. BRESSER expands to become an international leading brand in the industry. Numerous innovations are continuously introduced. The company grows year by year.

1995

The growth is further reflected by the expansion of the company building on Siemensstraße in Borken.

BRESSER in the New Corporate Group

1999

To maintain a leading role in the market, Rolf Bresser sells his company to the US market leader for amateur telescopes, MEADE Instruments Corp., USA. Mr. Bresser continues to work with the company for another three years. With MEADE, computer-controlled telescopes and high-quality optics are offered for the first time.

2005

The BRESSER Messier telescope series for advanced amateur astronomers is successfully launched.

2006

Expansion and relocation to a larger, more modern headquarters from Borken to the neighboring city of Rhede.

2007

A series of self-designed high-quality microscopes, also suitable for commercial use, is introduced under the BRESSER brand. Also new: specially designed radio weather stations and night vision devices from the market leader YUKON.

2008

Under the motto "Playfully experience the world of optics," BRESSER Junior is launched. The subsidiary Bresser France S.A.R.L. is founded.

2009

Former owner Rolf Bresser, long-term main supplier Jinghua Precision Optics Co., Ltd., and Managing Director Helmut Ebbert acquire all shares of Bresser GmbH. With a new corporate structure, the company is optimally positioned in the current market environment. The combination of manufacturer and distributor offers significant competitive advantages worldwide.
Launch of the EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC brand, aimed at highly advanced amateur astronomers. The newly developed wide-angle eyepieces revolutionize the market.
Introduction of the high-quality BRESSER BioScience microscopes.

2010

The new MONTANA binoculars achieve top quality standards.
Establishment of the sales company Bresser LLC/USA.

2011

Start of Bresser Iberia SLU, based in Madrid.
The first trail cameras and rangefinders expand the product range.

2012

A global licensing agreement for optical products and outdoor items is signed with NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC!

2013

Introduction of NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC KIDS, featuring a wide selection of optical devices and outdoor products.
Massive expansion of the Weather & Time segment.

2014

Winner of the nationwide environmental project "Ökoprofit." Acquisition of FOLUX B.V., based in the Netherlands, a successful specialist in photo studio equipment.
Reintroduction of the BRESSER beginner telescope series in carbon design, all equipped with smartphone holders and solar filters.

2015

Establishment of BRESSER UK Ltd. in Southern England.
First-ever offering of a selection of action cameras.
Professional Full HD microscope cameras allow for work independent of a PC.

2016

New binoculars for demanding users: BRESSER PIRSCH ED and CONDOR. Numerous awards are given for the attractive price/performance ratio.

2017

In the record sales year of 2017, the company's employees and friends celebrate its 60th anniversary.
Introduction of a highly efficient logistics management system and construction of new exhibition rooms.
The Dobsonian telescopes from EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC get a "big brother" with the 20" mirror.

2018

Introduction of WIFI-controlled GOTO telescopes iEXOS. The German mounts are also suitable for photography and are unrivaled in their price segment.

2019

For the first time, high-quality thermal imaging cameras are offered. The number of employees grows to 100. After 10 years of independence, it can be said: The company is better positioned than ever.

2020

The first 3D printer under the BRESSER brand is launched.
Partnership with VIXEN: High-quality telescopes and accessories made in Japan are now exclusively offered by Bresser in Europe and the USA.
A revenue increase of over 60% compared to the previous year is achieved.

2021

The Bresser Family is introduced: Flora, Lukas, and Luna inspire children in the areas of outdoor exploration, microscopy, and astronomy.
Significant investments in the warehouse management system and modern storage techniques. Additionally, the number of employees in Europe grows to 160, and another record revenue is achieved.

2022

Over 5 million euros are invested in the expansion of the company headquarters: This results in a doubling of the usable space to almost 10,000 square meters.
A high-bay warehouse with a large roof terrace and a cafeteria with a roof terrace are constructed.
