What do I need? Besides a good camera, of course, several pieces of professional equipment

The camera settings

The camera settings often depend on the subject you like to take a photo of. If it is food photography, for example, it may be a slight blur due to an open aperture (4.6). Otherwise, work with a closed aperture (16) to achieve a high deep sharpness and to show the product very detailed.

The tripod

A safe and wobble-free tripod is an instrument and avoids blur caused by the smallest movements. Even the steadiest hands are no substitute for a stable tripod. The remote shutter release

A remote shutter release is a practical accessory for the work with studio flashes. That gives any photographer 100% freedom of movement without disturbing so-called „synchro cables“ which are restricting your shooting distance. The radio triggers, which are mounted on the hot shoe of the cameras, send the signal to the flashes for triggering by radio.

The lighting

Many mistakes can begin with the wrong lighting. Photos that are too bright or too dark distort the colours and the product. That's why it's important to be able to adjust the lighting perfectly at all times and to adapt it to the different products, because not every product needs the same lighting. The background

The right background should clearly differentiate from the product so that the product is optimally showcased. A monochrome background is often used so that the background does not distract from the product. A white background is not always a "must-have." If you use a white background, however, you should make sure that it does not appear greyish but pure white by adjusting the "White Balance" in the camera options. In exceptional cases, you can also choose a more unusual background. Flatlays and patterned backgrounds are also suitable for product photography if they are not "cut-out" products.
