FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

For this application we recommend the BRESSER Erudit DLX 40-1000x microscope in combination with a USB camera, e.g. the BRESSER MikroCam 1.3 MP. This solution offers better image quality and flexibility than a simple LCD microscope.

If you want to identify bacteria, it is usually more useful to create a culture. Microscopes are generally only sufficient to determine whether the bacteria are, for example, spherical or rod-shaped.
The Barlow lens is already installed in the eyepiece tube on many devices. It can be pulled out at the upper ridge to use the zoom function.
Possible causes:

  • Sample too thick / unsuitable: Use thin samples or fixed smears.
  • No cover glass or incorrect thickness: Objectives are optimized for cover glasses.
  • Condenser incorrectly adjusted: Do not open the diaphragm too far – otherwise contrast will be low.
  • Magnification too high: Rule of thumb: maximum 1000 × objective aperture. Example: With a 40x objective with aperture 0.65, the limit is about 650x.

BRESSER Advance ICD 10x-160x Zoom Stereo Microscope
The zoom stereo microscope BRESSER Advance ICD is suitable for a wide variety of objects. Because of the Greenough design with two tilted objectives, you can view the sample in 3D. The three-dimensional view is also very helpful when working under the microscope, e.g. when soldering, dissecting or preparing a sample. The precise zoom enables you to view your sample in a wide range of magnifications from 1x to 4x (zoom ratio 4.0). When zooming, only slight refocussing is necessary. To do this, the Advance ICD microscope is equipped with a very precise, coaxial coarse and fine focus. The fine focus is especially helpful when using high magnifications or for imaging. When doing focus stacking with our MikroCam cameras (optional) the fine focus is also a big help. The interpupillary distance of the eyepiece pair is adjustable. Both eyepiece holders are equipped with diopter adjustment, which allows users with bad eyesight to compensate up to 8 dpt. difference between left and right eye. The 10x wide field eyepieces have field number (FN) 22 and are equipped with soft rubber eyecups. The microscope head can be moved on the long rod of the stand, which allows you to observe big samples up to a size of 22 cm.The angle of the bright LED reflected light illumination can be adjusted as necessary. The extra bright and even LED transmitted light provides a flat background when viewing transparent samples. The switch allows you to select reflected light, transmitted light or a combination of both to match your requirements. Brightness is adjustable with the dimmer. The bright light does not heat up, which allows you to observe also living specimens over a longer period of time. The long lasting LED is powered by a 5V AC adapter (EU/UK). The power cable comes with a USB plug.Fully equipped, the Advance ICD covers an exceptionally wide range of magnifications and is therefore suitable for a variety of tasks. Besides the included 2x lens there is also a selection of other auxiliary objectives available. With these, you are able to adjust magnification, working distance and depth of focus according to your needs.Magnifications in basic setting (no optional accessories):10x eyepieces: 10x – 40x10x eyepieces plus 2x auxiliary lens: 20x – 80x20x eyepieces: 20x – 80x20x eyepieces plus 2x auxiliary lens: 80x – 160x(other magnifications are possible when using other auxiliary lenses and/or eyepieces)The third tube is designed to permanently attach a camera. BRESSER DST-0745 Ultra Macro Zoom Microscope
The BRESSER DST-0745 is a special microscope that is operated with a c-mount camera (camera not included). This allows direct viewing on a screen. Due to the vertically installed optics, there is no shifting of the image when focusing. This is especially useful for "focus stacking" shots. The zoom is continuously adjustable from 0.7x - 4.5x. A coarse and fine focus adjustment facilitates focusing, especially at high magnifications. The convenient and user-friendly operation makes the digital microscope particularly suitable for daily use in the workshop. Measurements, quality control of surfaces or inspection of components and raw materials are easy with the workshop microscope. Insects, plants and rocks are also impressively displayed. The DST-0745 workshop microscope is not suitable for visual observation. It can only be used in combination with a MikroCam c-mount microscope camera. It is designed for camera sensors of about 1/2". Smaller sensors can be used without problems. With larger sensors there is vignetting, which becomes somewhat less at higher magnifications. Due to the two flexible incident light lamps, the light can be optimally positioned. The transmitted light illumination helps when observing transparent objects. The brightness of both illuminators can be adjusted in five steps. The magnification of a USB camera differs from the magnification of the lens. It depends, among other things, on the sensor size and the display on a monitor. It can be compared to macro lenses with macro factor 0.7:1 up to 4.5:1. Compatible MikroCam cameras: 5914131 MikroCam SP 1.3 MP 5914320 MikroCam SP 3.1 MP 5914520 MikroCam SP 5.0 MP 5914004 MicroCamII 5914020 MicroCamII 5914310 MicroCamII 5914912 MicroCamII 5914180 MikroCam PRO HDMI 5914190 MikroCam PRO HDMI 5MP 5914195 MikroCam Pro HDMI Autofocus FEATURES Designed for C-mount microscope cameras Up to 1/2" sea sensor size Continuous zoom (0.7x - 4.5x) Two flexible incident light LED lamps LED transmitted light illumination Adjustable brightness SCOPE OF DELIVERY Zoom lens head 0.7x - 4.5x Stand with incident and transmitted light illumination Object plate glass (one side frosted) Object plate plastic (one side white, one side black) Power supply unit, operating instructions, dust cover
