2016-02-01Die Zeitschrift "Sky at Night" hat in ihrer aktuellen Ausgabe unseren neuen Bresser Messier Dobson ausführlich getestet und mit vier von fünf möglichen Sternen bewertet. Vor allem der schnelle, unkomplizierte Aufbau, sowie der hochwertige Fokussierer und die Möglichkeit das Teleskop auf einfache Weise auch parallaktisch zu montieren stießen auf positives Echo. Für ein Gerät in dieser Preisklasse sind vier Sterne eine sehr gute Bewertung, über die wir uns sehr gefreut haben. Wir nehmen das gute Ergebnis als Ansporn uns auch weiterhin mehr Mühe zu geben als andere.

2016-01-01Auch die Zeitschrift "Abenteuer Astronomie" hat in der aktuellen Ausgabe 1/2016 im "Teleskope | Praxis-Check" das Bresser Messier 8-Zoll-Dobson getestet.
Es gibt kaum ein geeigneteres Gerät für Einsteiger: Tubus auf die Rockerbox, Okular einstecken und los geht’s: Volltubus-Dobsons machen den Start für die visuelle Beobachtung leicht und liefern viel Licht für wenig Geld. Der 8-Zoll-Dobson von Bresser ist da keine Ausnahme.
Positiv beeindrucken konnten der gut verarbeitete Metalltubus, die gute Optik, der große Okularauszug, der einfache Auf- und Abbau sowie die Adaptions-Möglichkeiten für den parallaktischen Betrieb.
Das sehr positive Fazit:
Der Bresser Messier 8-Zoll Dobson ist ein wirklich gutes Teleskop mit ordentlichem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, insbesondere geeignet für den ambitionierten Einsteiger in die Welt der Astronomie. Die optionale Untersetzung am Okularauszug für 75,90€ würde ich empfehlen, weiterhin die Anschaffung eines 2-Zoll-Okulares der Brennweite 20mm bis 30mm und eines Modells für höhere Vergrößerungen, etwa 10mm oder 9mm. Dann steht einem unkomplizierten Beobachtungsgenuss nichts mehr im Weg.

The BRESSER Messier 8'' dobsonian is simply a breakthrough. Despite of its low price this telesccope offers a versatility and quality rivaling a lot more expensive telecopes. The optical diameter of 203mm (8'') does not restrict your observations on solar system objects like the moon or the planets - you can reach farther into the sky and explore globular and open clusters, nebulae and galaxies. With that telescope those objects are beginning to show structures: globular clusters are no longer only fuzzy blobs, but are resolved into masses of individual stars. Nebulae, that can only be barely detected in smaller scopes, reveal structures within. The telescope is setting a new standard in versatility: the excellent Hexafoc focuser boosts a free diameter of 65mm (2,5'') so that you do not have vignetting in big widefield eyepieces that is caused by smaller focuser barrels. The big altitude wheels handle those big, heavy eyepieces without problems - and when you intend to load even more (like a binocular viewer with two eyepieces) then you can move the tube in its tube rings and achieve balance within seconds. The excellent rigidity of the focuser makes focusing a snap - even for astrophotography. This is another virtue of this highly versatile telescope system: you can remove the altitude wheels from the tube rings, attach a dovetail and use the optical tube on a equatorial mount for astrophotography - in minutes. The focuser is handling even heavy cameras tilt and shifting-free. You are extremely demanding in your image sharpness? No problem - with the optional 10:1 gear reduction sharp images are easy. If you consider, that the focuser is that part of the telescope that is used most often, you will recognize the quantum leap this Hexafoc represents in a telescope of this price range.
With the included standard accessories (6x30 finder and 25mm SPL-eyepiece) the telescope is ready for observing.
If you need to transport or store the telescope as compact as possible you will like this: the rocker box of the 8'' BRESSER Messier assembles and disassembles extremely easy and fast due to the use of metal standard furniture fasteners. So you can transform the bulky rocker box into a handy flat package of boards.
This telescope is setting a new standard in usability, versatility and performance in its price class.
Please note: Reflector telescopes with optical design Newton are very good for astronomical observing at the starry night sky. But these telescopes are not well usable for observing landscape and nature during daylight. Therefore we suggest BRESSER refractor (lens) telescopes for landscape and nature observing.

One of the most important obstacles for the exploration of the night sky is the brightening of the night sky by artificial lights, such as streetlights. The night sky is not really dark in the vicinity of towns or cities, which reduces the visibility of objects beyond the solar system enormously. Depending on the type of the celestial object, it is possible to dramatically increase the contrast by blocking annoying artificial light. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC UHC filter "zeros in" on the wavelengths of so-called emission nebulae. Those objects glow in special colours - their emission lines. Those emission lines are linked to chemical elements - in this case hydrogen at 486nm and 656nm, plus oxygen at 496nm and 501nm. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC UHC nebula filter blocks all other colour wavelengths (and thereby nearly all of artificial light) and only the emission line of the hydrogen and oxygen can pass the filter. The result is astonishing: suddenly nebulae are visible at locations that were completely invisible from, without filters. In suburban skies, for example the Owl-nebula M97, the Veil-nebula NGC 6992 or even the bright Dumbell-nebula M27 are not clearly visible. Using this filter allows you to see nebulae and their structures in much finer detail. A must for every visual observer.

The Explore Scientific H-beta filter uses a characteristic property of the so called emmission nebulae. Those objekcts glow in special colors, the so called emmission lines. Those emmission lines are linked to chemical elements - in this case hydrogen. The Explore Scientific H-beta nebula filter blocks all other colors (and thereby nearly all of the artificial light) and only the emmission line of the hydrogen can pass the filter. The result is astonoishing: suddenly nebulae are visible at locations that were completely empty without filters. In suburbian skies for example the horsehead nebula is almost not visible with a 300mm telescope. By using this filter you can see the nebula and its structures without problems. Housing and eyepiece shaft are completely made from metal - no plastic is used. Filter thread for use with colour- and nebular filters is also available.

Despite its low price, it offers a variety of functions and quality, which you sometimes look for in the considerably more expensive devices in vain. With an aperture diameter of 150 mm and a focal length of 1200 mm of this high quality BRESSER newtonian optics, the observation of the moon, the planets and planetary nebulae is particularly well possible. Craters and grooves of the moon as well as the fast changing shadows cast by the so-called terminator line are exciting observation targets. Saturn with its impressive ring, Jupiter with its bands of clouds and the movement of its easily visible moons, the crescent shape of Venus and the glowing red Mars are good examples of what this telescope can be used for.
Because of the long basic focal length you can easily achieve the high magnifications required for this purpose with this telescope. You do not need expensive special eyepieces. In short, this is a telescope primarily for detailed observation. Nevertheless bright deep sky objects like the Orion Nebula or the galaxies Messier 81 and 82 etc. can be observed as well.
Also photography is no problem with this tube. Here is another strength of this telescope: if you want to take pictures, you can simply unscrew the altitude wheels from the tube and put them on a EQ mount with an optionally available dovetail rail - and nothing more stands in the way of astrophotography. The Messier 6'' Dobson is almost pre-assembled ex factory which means you can start within minutes. With the included standard accessories (LED-finder, 25mm and 9mm Kellner eyepieces and Moonfilter) the telescope is ready for observing. The inbuild compass and circular level speeds up the telescopes orientation. The optical diameter of 150mm (6'') does not restrict your observations on solar system objects like the moon or the planets - you can reach farther into the sky and explore globular and open clusters, nebulae and galaxies. Finding and observing is much easier with that light gathering richfield telescope. Bresser also has equipped these dobsonians with a high quality parabolic main mirror which offers a much better scharpness and contrast than other telescopes with a simple spherical main mirror. In addition, this telescope has a particularly large secondary mirror of 55mm in diametre for ideal illumination of the image field.
The 6'' Dobsonian is also equipped with a large 2.0'' focuser, which allows the use of 2.0'' eyepieces with even larger fields of view. Due to the included eyepiece adapter 2'' to 1.25'', all 1.25'' eyepieces can of course be used.
The optical tube can easily be moved inside the tube rings in order to find the optimal balance and observing position. This is another virtue of this highly versatile telescope system: Remove the optical tube from the dobsonian telescope mount and use the optics on a equatorial mount - in minutes. The new BRESSER Messier 12" Dobson enhances this well-liked telescope series while providing great portability due to its lightweight fibreglass telescope tube.
Despite its low price, it offers a variety of functions as well as quality that you would not find in considerably more expensive devices. Thanks to the powerful telescope aperture of 305 mm, you get significantly more light-gathering capacity than with the smaller models and are therefore not limited to observing the moon and the planets of our solar system - you can already look far out into the universe and observe globular clusters, nebulae and galaxies with even greater brightness. Details become visible in most deep-sky objects: globular clusters are clearly resolved into individual stars and gas nebulae, which can only be guessed at with smaller devices, show structure. The device is unrivalled in its versatility: The excellent large Hexafoc focuser has an aperture of 65 mm - so there is no noticeable obstruction from the focuser tube even with large wide-field eyepieces. Thanks to the large altitude wheels, even these heavier eyepieces are held effortlessly. And if a particularly large number of accessories is attached, such as a binocular attachment, then the entire tube can be moved inside the tube clamps - and everything is balanced again in a flash. The unrivalled rigidity of the focuser makes focusing easy - so photography with this tube is also possible. This is another strength of this universal telescope: if you want to take photos, you can simply unscrew the altitude wheels from the tube and attach it to an equatorial mount using a dovetail bar - so there's nothing standing in the way of astrophotography. An optional 10:1 gear reduction for the focuser is available for the highest demands. Considering that the focuser is the most frequently used part of the telescope, the use of the Hexafoc in this device is a quantum leap for this price range.
