2016-02-01Die Zeitschrift "Sky at Night" hat in ihrer aktuellen Ausgabe unseren neuen Bresser Messier Dobson ausführlich getestet und mit vier von fünf möglichen Sternen bewertet. Vor allem der schnelle, unkomplizierte Aufbau, sowie der hochwertige Fokussierer und die Möglichkeit das Teleskop auf einfache Weise auch parallaktisch zu montieren stießen auf positives Echo. Für ein Gerät in dieser Preisklasse sind vier Sterne eine sehr gute Bewertung, über die wir uns sehr gefreut haben. Wir nehmen das gute Ergebnis als Ansporn uns auch weiterhin mehr Mühe zu geben als andere.

2016-01-01Auch die Zeitschrift "Abenteuer Astronomie" hat in der aktuellen Ausgabe 1/2016 im "Teleskope | Praxis-Check" das Bresser Messier 8-Zoll-Dobson getestet.
Es gibt kaum ein geeigneteres Gerät für Einsteiger: Tubus auf die Rockerbox, Okular einstecken und los geht’s: Volltubus-Dobsons machen den Start für die visuelle Beobachtung leicht und liefern viel Licht für wenig Geld. Der 8-Zoll-Dobson von Bresser ist da keine Ausnahme.
Positiv beeindrucken konnten der gut verarbeitete Metalltubus, die gute Optik, der große Okularauszug, der einfache Auf- und Abbau sowie die Adaptions-Möglichkeiten für den parallaktischen Betrieb.
Das sehr positive Fazit:
Der Bresser Messier 8-Zoll Dobson ist ein wirklich gutes Teleskop mit ordentlichem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, insbesondere geeignet für den ambitionierten Einsteiger in die Welt der Astronomie. Die optionale Untersetzung am Okularauszug für 75,90€ würde ich empfehlen, weiterhin die Anschaffung eines 2-Zoll-Okulares der Brennweite 20mm bis 30mm und eines Modells für höhere Vergrößerungen, etwa 10mm oder 9mm. Dann steht einem unkomplizierten Beobachtungsgenuss nichts mehr im Weg.

The BRESSER Messier 8'' dobsonian is simply a breakthrough. Despite of its low price this telesccope offers a versatility and quality rivaling a lot more expensive telecopes. The optical diameter of 203mm (8'') does not restrict your observations on solar system objects like the moon or the planets - you can reach farther into the sky and explore globular and open clusters, nebulae and galaxies. With that telescope those objects are beginning to show structures: globular clusters are no longer only fuzzy blobs, but are resolved into masses of individual stars. Nebulae, that can only be barely detected in smaller scopes, reveal structures within. The telescope is setting a new standard in versatility: the excellent Hexafoc focuser boosts a free diameter of 65mm (2,5'') so that you do not have vignetting in big widefield eyepieces that is caused by smaller focuser barrels. The big altitude wheels handle those big, heavy eyepieces without problems - and when you intend to load even more (like a binocular viewer with two eyepieces) then you can move the tube in its tube rings and achieve balance within seconds. The excellent rigidity of the focuser makes focusing a snap - even for astrophotography. This is another virtue of this highly versatile telescope system: you can remove the altitude wheels from the tube rings, attach a dovetail and use the optical tube on a equatorial mount for astrophotography - in minutes. The focuser is handling even heavy cameras tilt and shifting-free. You are extremely demanding in your image sharpness? No problem - with the optional 10:1 gear reduction sharp images are easy. If you consider, that the focuser is that part of the telescope that is used most often, you will recognize the quantum leap this Hexafoc represents in a telescope of this price range.
With the included standard accessories (6x30 finder and 25mm SPL-eyepiece) the telescope is ready for observing.
If you need to transport or store the telescope as compact as possible you will like this: the rocker box of the 8'' BRESSER Messier assembles and disassembles extremely easy and fast due to the use of metal standard furniture fasteners. So you can transform the bulky rocker box into a handy flat package of boards.
This telescope is setting a new standard in usability, versatility and performance in its price class.
Please note: Reflector telescopes with optical design Newton are very good for astronomical observing at the starry night sky. But these telescopes are not well usable for observing landscape and nature during daylight. Therefore we suggest BRESSER refractor (lens) telescopes for landscape and nature observing.

One of the most important obstacles for the exploration of the night sky
is the brightening of the night sky by artificial lights, such as
streetlights. The night sky is not really dark in the vicinity of towns
or cities, which reduces the visibility of objects beyond the solar
systems enormously. Depending on the type of the celestial object it is
possible to increase the contrast dramatically by blocking the annoying artificial light. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC O-III filter uses a characteristic property of the so called emission nebulae.
Those objects glow in special colours, the so called emission lines.
Those emission lines are linked to chemical elements - in this case
oxygen. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC O-III nebula filter blocks all other colours (and thereby nearly all of the artificial light) and only the two emission lines of the oxygen can pass the filter.

Besides air turbulence, the brightening of the night sky is the biggest obstacle to observing faint objects beyond the solar system. Street lamps and other artificial lighting mean that the sky in human settlements is no longer really black. This affects the contrast and thus the perception of deep-sky objects. Depending on the type of celestial object, however, part of disturbing artificial light can be filtered out, making it easier to observe fainter targets.The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC CITY LIGHT SUPRESSION - or CLS - filter uses the fact that the artificial lighting is not evenly distributed over the entire spectrum. Every eyepiece is equipped with a foldable rubber eyecup to avoid straylight from the sides and the inner eyepiece shaft is carefully blackened as well. Housing and eyepiece shaft are completely made from metal - no plastic is used. Filter thread for use with colour- and nebular filters is also available.

Despite its low price, it offers a variety of functions and quality, which you sometimes look for in the considerably more expensive devices in vain. With an aperture diameter of 150 mm and a focal length of 1200 mm of this high quality BRESSER newtonian optics, the observation of the moon, the planets and planetary nebulae is particularly well possible. Craters and grooves of the moon as well as the fast changing shadows cast by the so-called terminator line are exciting observation targets. Saturn with its impressive ring, Jupiter with its bands of clouds and the movement of its easily visible moons, the crescent shape of Venus and the glowing red Mars are good examples of what this telescope can be used for.
Because of the long basic focal length you can easily achieve the high magnifications required for this purpose with this telescope. You do not need expensive special eyepieces. In short, this is a telescope primarily for detailed observation. Nevertheless bright deep sky objects like the Orion Nebula or the galaxies Messier 81 and 82 etc. can be observed as well.
Also photography is no problem with this tube. The big 85 mm secondary prevents vignetting for optimal illumination The excellent 2,5" Hexafoc focuser also does not cause vignetting due to its large diameter and makes focussing a joy - the smoothness and shifting-free operation sets new standards in this price class. This groundbreaking focuser, tube rings with 44mm universal standard dovetail and camera mounting feature and a high-end finderscope with haircross and laser-engraved scale leave nothing to desire even for demanding astrophotographers. The NT-203s/800 Hexafoc has a classical tube construction with an aluminium tube. The focuser can be upgraded with a 10:1 reduction (part No. 0625720) without problems.
