One of the most important obstacles for the exploration of the night sky
is the brightening of the night sky by artificial lights, such as
streetlights. The night sky is not really dark in the vicinity of towns
or cities, which reduces the visibility of objects beyond the solar
systems enormously. Depending on the type of the celestial object it is
possible to increase the contrast dramatically by blocking the annoying artificial light. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC O-III filter uses a characteristic property of the so called emission nebulae.
Those objects glow in special colours, the so called emission lines.
Those emission lines are linked to chemical elements - in this case
oxygen. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC O-III nebula filter blocks all other colours (and thereby nearly all of the artificial light) and only the two emission lines of the oxygen can pass the filter.

Besides air turbulence, the brightening of the night sky is the biggest obstacle to observing faint objects beyond the solar system. Street lamps and other artificial lighting mean that the sky in human settlements is no longer really black. This affects the contrast and thus the perception of deep-sky objects. Depending on the type of celestial object, however, part of disturbing artificial light can be filtered out, making it easier to observe fainter targets.The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC CITY LIGHT SUPRESSION - or CLS - filter uses the fact that the artificial lighting is not evenly distributed over the entire spectrum. Perfect for ambitious planetary observers: the set consists of the BRESSER Messier AR-152L/1200 Telescope and the modern EXOS-2 PMC-Eight GoTo Mount. With the large aperture and long focal length of 1200 mm, the high-quality optics deliver razor-sharp, high-contrast images that impress with every observation. The telescope is especially suitable for detailed views of Mars, Jupiter, and other celestial bodies. You can also explore the sun using the included objective filter. The mount is equipped with a precise GoTo control and is very easy to use with the intuitive ExploreStars App. Thanks to the extremely accurate tracking, the selected celestial object is guaranteed to always stay in the field of view.
The Telescope
For demanding planetary observers, the BRESSER Messier AR-152L is the dream device. Discover structures in Jupiter’s cloud bands, the finest grooves and craters on the moon’s surface, and structures on Mars, including the ice-covered polar caps of our neighboring planet! Observe the dance of Jupiter’s moons around the planet and discover the greenish glow of Uranus far beyond Saturn’s orbit. The combination of large aperture and long focal length enables sharp, high-contrast images that will impress you every time. And with the high-quality objective solar filter, you can also safely observe our own star. (Caution: Never point the telescope at the sun without a solar filter!)
The Mount
The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC EXOS-2 PMC-Eight GoTo Mount is equipped with a modern and very precise GoTo control system. It consists of a robust Wi-Fi controller unit that provides all the necessary interfaces. The NEMA-11 stepper motors are directly connected to this unit via cable, and an ST-4 compatible autoguider interface is also available. In addition, the control system supports micro-stepping to ensure precise tracking.
Intuitive operation via app and graphical star chart
The ExploreStars App, developed specifically for the PMC-Eight system, impresses with a very well-designed, intuitive user interface. The currently available alignment stars for initializing the control system, as well as all celestial objects in the database, are displayed as a star chart with additional text information. All these objects can be easily viewed and selected.
Powerful controller unit with Open GoTo for customization
The heart of the controller unit consists of a completely autonomous 2-channel multi-processor with 8 CPUs and a Wi-Fi Ethernet 10/100 adapter with IP function. This allows remote operation via browser, ASCOM, app, or serial connection. The Open GoTo also allows you to write your own firmware and upload it to the controller unit. This enables custom adjustments to the device’s functions as well as the creation of custom object lists, etc.
Polar finder included
The included and pre-installed polar finder scope allows for quick and precise alignment and long exposure times without unwanted star trails. The integrated LED lighting unit further enhances the comfort of using the polar finder.
