For this application we recommend the BRESSER Erudit DLX 40-1000x microscope in combination with a USB camera, e.g. the BRESSER MikroCam 1.3 MP. This solution offers better image quality and flexibility than a simple LCD microscope.

If you want to identify bacteria, it is usually more useful to create a culture. Microscopes are generally only sufficient to determine whether the bacteria are, for example, spherical or rod-shaped.
The Barlow lens is already installed in the eyepiece tube on many devices. It can be pulled out at the upper ridge to use the zoom function.
Possible causes:
 
  • Sample too thick / unsuitable: Use thin samples or fixed smears.
  • No cover glass or incorrect thickness: Objectives are optimized for cover glasses.
  • Condenser incorrectly adjusted: Do not open the diaphragm too far – otherwise contrast will be low.
  • Magnification too high: Rule of thumb: maximum 1000 × objective aperture. Example: With a 40x objective with aperture 0.65, the limit is about 650x.

The NIB 630 is the flagship of the NIB600 series of inverted microscopes. With such an inverted design, the device enables the microscopy of plankton, microalgae and cell cultures. Cell cultures can be examined directly in the culture vessel without taking samples. For particularly easy sample handling, it is equipped with a tiltable lighting unit. This means that even tall vessels can be placed comfortably without bumping against the lighting unit. The microscope head is equipped with a height-adjustable ergo viewing head. The brightness can be programmed for each objective so that there is no need to readjust when changing magnification and the user is not blinded. OBJECTIVE The NEXCOPE NIB630 microscope is equipped with a quintuple nosepiece. A 4x planachromatic objective and one each of 10x, 20x and 40x planachromatic phase contrast objectives are included. The condenser has a numerical aperture of 0.3 and an extra long working distance. The objectives are calculated for a soil thickness of 1.2 mm. Please use appropriate culture vessels. The universal specimen holder is suitable for standard slides. EYEPIECES The eyepieces have a field of view of 22 mm. This gives you a very large field of view. The high eye point makes them very comfortable even for spectacle wearers. A rubber edge protects against scratches on contact. Dioptric compensation from -5 to +5 can be individually adjusted for each eyepiece. The interpupillary distance can be adjusted between 48 mm and 75 mm. The binocular can be tilted up and down to adjust the viewing height. ILLUMINATION The Koehler illumination provides the best possible light guidance of the microscopy light. This avoids stray light and only illuminates the just visible area in the specimen. This protects sensitive living specimens from excessive light irradiation. The powerful 3W LED can be adjusted in brightness and ensures optimal illumination. The brightness can be adjusted individually for each objective. If an objective is changed, the NEXCOPE NIB630 automatically adjusts the previously set brightness. The display shows the currently selected lens and the current brightness. The tiltable lighting unit makes it easier to work with taller sample vessels. The adjustable condenser with extra-long working distance enables quick readiness for use. MECHANICS In addition to coarse focusing, fine focusing helps to bring the specimen into focus very precisely. A full turn of the fine focusing knob moves the stage up or down by 0.2 mm. On the right side, the fine focus can be adjusted with a finger. The friction of the coarse focusing can also be varied. The fine focusing knobs are held magnetically and can be mounted on the left or right. The XY stage offers the possibility of inserting various holders. This allows slides or even petri dishes to be inserted. CAMERA CONNECTION The NEXCOPE NIB630 is specially designed for use with C-mount cameras. The camera connection is located on the side and has a switch between visual observation and camera (100/0 or 0/100). Ideal fields of application for this very solidly built instrument include metallography (e.g. microstructures of metals and alloys), mineralogy, precision mechanics, electronics and the semiconductor industry; it is suitable for scientific research and teaching as well as for industrial production (e.g. quality control). In line with its intended use, the MTL 201 features a very large stage (250 mm x 230 mm), which can be moved coarsely with a handle and finely with cross and longitudinal drives. For perfect focusing, both coarse and fine focus (coaxial; approx. 70 µm per revolution) are provided. Reflected light illumination using a 20 W halogen lamp with adjustable light intensity is directed through the objective. A centreable field diaphragm, a selection of filters (yellow, green, blue, matt) and a polariser/analyser combination are available to the user. The five-position nosepiece is fitted with planachromatic DIN objectives (5x, 10x, 20x, 40x, 80x). The trinocular microscope head holds the 30° inclined eyepiece tubes and the photo tube. Thanks to the global shutter, there are no image distortions with moving objects. The large image sensor (14.13 x 7.45 mm) ensures a very wide field of view. The very high light sensitivity of the Sony® IMX305 CMOS sensor enables excellent image quality even in dark field or phase contrast. The BRESSER MikroCam Lab II software offers a wide range of functions, such as measurement in live view (calibration slide required), mosaic creation, and focus stacking (for increased depth of field). In addition, almost all automatic functions (exposure time, sensitivity, white balance, etc.) can also be set manually. The functions: mosaic and focus stacking (EDF) can be generated directly from the live image. This can save a great deal of time. Even non-professionals can achieve quick results. To use the mosaic function optimally, a cross stage is required. Due to the large sensor, the camera is not optimally suited for every microscope. This may result in vignetting (edge shading). In most cases, this shading can be prevented by a 1x optic (Art. No. 5914001) screwed into the camera. This camera is not designed for the trinocular tube of the ETD-201. With this microscope, not the entire field of view can be used. A PC or laptop is not required to operate the camera; you can simply connect the MikroCam MINI Full HD HDMI to an existing monitor, TV, projector or smartboard. Alternatively, a small BRESSER monitor can be mounted directly on the camera (see item no. 5914120).The HDMI connection is easy to make and the camera is ready for use immediately. No software installation, PC setup, etc. is necessary. This solid designed instrument is ideal for working in metallography (e. g. microscopy of polished samples of metals or alloys), mineralogy, precision engineering and electronics. It is suitable for scientific research, teaching demonstration and industrial production (e.g. quality controlling). According to its purposes, the MTL 201 is equipped with a large stage (250 mm x 230 mm), which can be moved coarsely by a quick adjustment lever and finely by a transverse and a longitudinal knob. The focuser has coarse and fine drive (coaxial; circa 70 µm/ full turn). The illumination is done by a halogen lamp (20 W) with a dimmer. The light comes through the objective from above onto the sample. There are a field diaphragm, which can be centered, some filters (yellow, green, blue, ground glass) and a polarizer/analyzer combination. BRESSER Researcher LCD Microscope
A digital microscope easily brings the microcosmos up on the screen. For a long time, these instruments were common only in the beginner's range. Now, the successful and proven Researcher series makes the step into the digital microscopy world and offers new options for microscopy in schools, for hobby or work. The optics and mechanics is the same as already well estabished in the Researcher Bino and Researcher Trino microscopes. Incuding 4 DIN objectives, Abbe condenser, coaxial fine focus and crosstable, the Researcher LCD is suitable for use in the microscopy hobby as well as in teaching or other work related applications. The highest magnification when using the 60x objective (compares to 600x on non digital microscopes) is high enough to view small microorganisms as microalgae, flagellates and bacteria. Other magnifications (20x, 100x oil) can be added later. The Researcher LCD is also compatible with our plan-achromatic objectives designed for 160mm optical tube length.The integrated, modern Sony camerasensor IMX206 with 16MP gives a brilliant image with good contrast on the monitor. A PC or laptop is not required for operating the camera; you can simply connect the MicroCam MINI Full HD HDMI to an existing monitor, TV, projector, or smartboard. This makes it ideal for use in teaching. Alternatively, a small monitor from BRESSER can also be mounted directly on the camera (see item no. 5914120).The connection via HDMI is easy to make, and the camera is ready for use immediately. No software installation, PC setup, etc. is necessary. Due to the lossless data transmission, very good image quality is achieved, and the image is always displayed with a consistently high frame rate of 60 fps and without delay. This is particularly advantageous when a microscope workstation is to be digitized, for example, in quality control or production.To control the camera, the included USB mouse is connected. The screen delivers brilliant images without artifacts, as the display has the same resolution as the output image of the camera. With the set of MicroCam and HDMI display, almost any trinocular microscope with camera connection can be upgraded to a digital microscope. This allows for observation independent of a PC.The size of the display is optimally chosen so that the microscope user can microscope as usual and view the image simultaneously on the monitor. The display provides optimal image quality with a large viewing angle of 178°! This way, multiple people can view the image without loss of quality.The image from the microscope camera is always displayed on the HDMI screen without delay and with a high refresh rate of 60 FPS. The representation via HDMI microscope camera on an HDMI monitor is therefore usually of better quality than when using a USB camera on a laptop or PC. This is particularly advantageous when work is to be carried out under microscopic control.Many users also benefit from the improved ergonomics when the image can be viewed on the HDMI display. Especially higher magnifications with their high numerical aperture are uncomfortable for eye problems such as floaters.
