FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

For this application we recommend the BRESSER Erudit DLX 40-1000x microscope in combination with a USB camera, e.g. the BRESSER MikroCam 1.3 MP. This solution offers better image quality and flexibility than a simple LCD microscope.

If you want to identify bacteria, it is usually more useful to create a culture. Microscopes are generally only sufficient to determine whether the bacteria are, for example, spherical or rod-shaped.
The Barlow lens is already installed in the eyepiece tube on many devices. It can be pulled out at the upper ridge to use the zoom function.
Possible causes:

  • Sample too thick / unsuitable: Use thin samples or fixed smears.
  • No cover glass or incorrect thickness: Objectives are optimized for cover glasses.
  • Condenser incorrectly adjusted: Do not open the diaphragm too far – otherwise contrast will be low.
  • Magnification too high: Rule of thumb: maximum 1000 × objective aperture. Example: With a 40x objective with aperture 0.65, the limit is about 650x.

BRESSER Stereo Microscope Science ETD-201 8-50x Trinocular Zoom with MikroCam MINI Full HD HDMI Microscope Camera and Full HD MINI HDMI Display (13.3")
Powerful combo set for precise observations and razor-sharp images. This high-quality set combines the professional ETD-201 stereo microscope, the modern MikroCam Mini HDMI microscope camera, and a 13.3-inch HDMI monitor into a powerful unit for precise analyses, visual documentation, and live presentations. The Microscope in DetailThe BRESSER Science ETD-201 is an optically high-quality reflected and transmitted light stereo microscope. It is suitable for use in medicine, agriculture and forestry, forensics, scientific research institutes and schools, as well as for assembly and inspection of small components in precision mechanics and electronics. The particularly wide base with object table and the exceptionally large height adjustment range allow observation of larger objects. The instrument features LED reflected and transmitted illumination, which can be used individually or combined and each dimmed steplessly. The reflected light incidence angle is especially user-friendly adjustable and lockable. With interchangeable widefield eyepieces (WF10x) and a 6.25x stereo zoom objective (0.8x-5x), a continuous magnification range from 8x to 50x is realised. The click-stop zoom locks at predefined positions, so magnifications can be exactly reproduced, e.g., for measurements at the microscope. The eyepieces have a field number of 22, allowing a visible field of view between 4.5 and 27.5 mm. The eye distance and dioptre adjustment are individually adjustable. The trinocular microscope head can be rotated 360° and features two eyepiece tubes inclined at 45° as well as a separate, parfocally adjustable camera tube for connecting a C-mount camera, or MikroCam, up to a 1/2" sensor size. MICROSCOPE SCOPE OF DELIVERYMicroscope zoom headMicroscope standWF 10x eyepieces (2 pieces)C-mount camera adapterUSB power supply cableGlass object platePlastic object plate (black/white)Dust coverOperating instructionsThe Microscope Camera in DetailThe MikroCam MINI Full HD HDMI is a particularly compact HDMI camera. A PC or laptop is not required to operate the camera; you can simply connect the MikroCam MINI Full HD HDMI to an existing monitor, TV, projector or smartboard. This makes it ideal for use in teaching. Alternatively, a small BRESSER monitor can be mounted directly on the camera (see item no. 5914120). The HDMI connection is easy to make and the camera is ready for use immediately. No software installation, PC setup, etc. is necessary. Thanks to the lossless data transmission, very good image quality is achieved and the image is always displayed with a consistently high frame rate of 60 fps and without delay. This is especially advantageous when a microscope workstation is to be digitised, e.g., in quality control or production. The supplied USB mouse is connected for control. This allows the three menus (camera settings, measurement* and display) to be controlled. *To perform measurements with the camera, a calibration slide is required (e.g., item no.: 5916710 or 5916720). The camera is also very suitable for presentations, as it operates in automatic mode when the mouse is not connected. The menus and mouse pointer are then not visible. Please note that a direct PC connection is not possible. An HDMI to USB video capture device is required for this. The USB port is only for controlling the camera with the mouse. MICROSCOPE CAMERA FEATURES HDMI connection for direct connection to a monitor, TV, projector or smartboard C-mount thread for easy adaptability to various microscopes (manufacturer-independent) Compatible with USB sticks or SD card readers (max. storage size: 512 GB) No PC/laptop necessary MICROSCOPE CAMERA SCOPE OF DELIVERY MikroCam MINI Full HD HDMI with C-mount connection Power supply (12 V / 2A) USB mouse HDMI cable (approx. 1.5 m) The Display in DetailThe Full HD display is the ideal complement to the BRESSER MikroCam Pro HDMI and MINI HDMI The display can be mounted directly on the camera with an adjustable holder. The screen delivers brilliant images without artefacts, as the display has the same resolution as the camera's output image. With the set of MikroCam and HDMI display, almost any trinocular microscope with camera connection can be upgraded to a digital microscope. This allows observation independently of a PC. The size of the display is optimally chosen so that the microscope user can microscope as usual and simultaneously view the image on the monitor. The display delivers optimal image quality with a wide viewing angle of 178°! This allows several people to view the image without loss of quality. The image from the microscope camera is always displayed on the HDMI screen without delay and with a high refresh rate of 60 FPS. Displaying via HDMI microscope camera on an HDMI monitor is therefore usually of better quality than using a USB camera on a laptop or PC. This is particularly advantageous when work under microscopic control is to be carried out. Many users also benefit from improved ergonomics when viewing the image on the HDMI display. Especially higher magnifications with their high numerical aperture are unpleasant for eye problems such as floaters (vitreous opacities). Digital viewing can provide relief here. The display can be powered with the supplied Y-cable using the same power supply as the camera. A suitable short, angled HDMI cable is also included to avoid cable clutter at the workstation. Mounting on a MikroCam PRO or MINI is done using two screws. Screws and tools are included. DISPLAY FEATURES 16:9 Full HD monitor with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels Active area: 16.5 x 29.4 cm Easy mounting directly on a MikroCam PRO or MINI Wide viewing angle (178°) No separate power supply necessary SCOPE OF DELIVERY 13.3" display HDMI cable Y-cable for power supply via camera power supply Mounting screws (2 pieces) Allen key Operating instructions

BRESSER DST-0745 Ultra Macro Zoom Microscope
The BRESSER DST-0745 is a special microscope that is operated with a c-mount camera (camera not included). This allows direct viewing on a screen. Due to the vertically installed optics, there is no shifting of the image when focusing. This is especially useful for "focus stacking" shots. The zoom is continuously adjustable from 0.7x - 4.5x. A coarse and fine focus adjustment facilitates focusing, especially at high magnifications. The convenient and user-friendly operation makes the digital microscope particularly suitable for daily use in the workshop. Measurements, quality control of surfaces or inspection of components and raw materials are easy with the workshop microscope. Insects, plants and rocks are also impressively displayed. The DST-0745 workshop microscope is not suitable for visual observation. It can only be used in combination with a MikroCam c-mount microscope camera. It is designed for camera sensors of about 1/2". Smaller sensors can be used without problems. With larger sensors there is vignetting, which becomes somewhat less at higher magnifications. Due to the two flexible incident light lamps, the light can be optimally positioned. The transmitted light illumination helps when observing transparent objects. The brightness of both illuminators can be adjusted in five steps. The magnification of a USB camera differs from the magnification of the lens. It depends, among other things, on the sensor size and the display on a monitor. It can be compared to macro lenses with macro factor 0.7:1 up to 4.5:1. Nexcope NIB630 inverted research microscope with tiltable lighting unit
The NIB 630 is the flagship of the NIB600 series of inverted microscopes. With such an inverted design, the device enables the microscopy of plankton, microalgae and cell cultures. Cell cultures can be examined directly in the culture vessel without taking samples. For particularly easy sample handling, it is equipped with a tiltable lighting unit. This means that even tall vessels can be placed comfortably without bumping against the lighting unit. The microscope head is equipped with a height-adjustable ergo viewing head. This allows users of different heights to adjust the microscope to a comfortable and ergonomic viewing height with a single hand movement. This special microscope is used in water management offices, research institutes and universities, in human and veterinary medicine, agriculture, marine biology, limnology, aquaculture and many more. The integrated display informs you at any time about the selected magnification and the status of the illumination as well as the ECO mode. The brightness can be programmed for each objective so that there is no need to readjust when changing magnification and the user is not blinded. OBJECTIVE The NEXCOPE NIB630 microscope is equipped with a quintuple nosepiece. A 4x planachromatic objective and one each of 10x, 20x and 40x planachromatic phase contrast objectives are included. The condenser has a numerical aperture of 0.3 and an extra long working distance. The objectives are calculated for a soil thickness of 1.2 mm. Please use appropriate culture vessels. The universal specimen holder is suitable for standard slides. EYEPIECES The eyepieces have a field of view of 22 mm. This gives you a very large field of view. The high eye point makes them very comfortable even for spectacle wearers. A rubber edge protects against scratches on contact. Dioptric compensation from -5 to +5 can be individually adjusted for each eyepiece. The interpupillary distance can be adjusted between 48 mm and 75 mm. The binocular can be tilted up and down to adjust the viewing height. ILLUMINATION The Koehler illumination provides the best possible light guidance of the microscopy light. This avoids stray light and only illuminates the just visible area in the specimen. This protects sensitive living specimens from excessive light irradiation. The powerful 3W LED can be adjusted in brightness and ensures optimal illumination. The brightness can be adjusted individually for each objective. If an objective is changed, the NEXCOPE NIB630 automatically adjusts the previously set brightness. The display shows the currently selected lens and the current brightness. The tiltable lighting unit makes it easier to work with taller sample vessels. The adjustable condenser with extra-long working distance enables quick readiness for use. MECHANICS In addition to coarse focusing, fine focusing helps to bring the specimen into focus very precisely. A full turn of the fine focusing knob moves the stage up or down by 0.2 mm. On the right side, the fine focus can be adjusted with a finger. The friction of the coarse focusing can also be varied. The fine focusing knobs are held magnetically and can be mounted on the left or right. The XY stage offers the possibility of inserting various holders. This allows slides or even petri dishes to be inserted. CAMERA CONNECTION The NEXCOPE NIB630 is specially designed for use with C-mount cameras. The camera connection is located on the side and has a switch between visual observation and camera (100/0 or 0/100).
