Product information "EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC ED80 APO iEXOS-100 PMC-Eight GoTo Telescope Set"
The Telescope
The triple-element ED special glass apochromats from EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC offer everything an amateur astronomer could wish for—and all at a moderate price. The triple-element design with Hoya FCD01 ED special glass and two air spaces delivers correction far superior to the two-element ED apochromats that are typically available in this price range.
A calculated Polystrehl of over 0.9 clearly stands out compared to the 0.8x achievable with two lenses. This superior optical performance, combined with a solid mechanical build, leaves nothing to be desired. Additionally, for photography, a field flattener is available as optional accessory, making the instrument fully suitable for astrophotography.
The tube length has been optimized so that accessories with a critical focal position can also be used. In all EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC ED apochromats, a triplet lens with air space and Hoya FCD-1 special glass ensures excellent performance for both visual and photographic use.
The Mount
The iEXOS-100 is a high-quality astronomical telescope mount with a practical Wi-Fi GoTo function and the revolutionary EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC PMC-Eight™ tracking system. This makes navigating the night sky, finding objects, and precise tracking particularly easy. Control is via the free ExploreStars app, available for Windows, Android, and iOS, offering convenient operation from your laptop or tablet. Additionally, the free ASCOM POTH client from EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC is available for download, allowing compatibility with almost any sky software that supports the ASCOM standard.
Accurate tracking and intuitive control
The German equatorial design of the iEXOS-100 enables accurate tracking, allowing observers to keep an object centred in the eyepiece for long periods. This helps astrophotographers to overcome typical challenges in long-exposure photography, such as field rotation or star trails. The unique strength of the PMC-Eight™ system lies in its eight independently operating CPUs. This provides excellent responsiveness, efficiency, and precise tracking to compensate for Earth’s rotation. The intuitive user interface of the ExploreStars app makes telescope alignment and navigation of the night sky easier, delivering interesting information on tens of thousands of celestial objects, which are regularly updated.
Versatile equipment for easy, universal use
Additional benefits of the mount include ergonomic and easy-to-use axis clamps, a stepless fine adjustment for polar height, and a polar alignment tunnel for quick polar alignment with Polaris. A built-in bubble level helps with tripod levelling. Several fluorescent elements on parts of the mount and tripod make it easier to operate in the dark. The attachment of optics is via a standard GP dovetail, making the iEXOS-100 a universally usable mount.
