Product information "LUNT LS130MT/B3400R&P Multipurpose APO Telescope for Sun + Night-Sky"
Modular designed multipurpose telescope, both for observing the sun in the H-alpha wavelength, as well as for night sky observations. Easy conversion between the different applications with a few simple steps. 3-lens apochromatic telescope with FPL-51 glass, 130mm aperture and 910mm focal length - excellent image quality for H-Alpha solar observation and also for observing the starry sky at night.

With innovative air pressure tuning system, good 2 inch (50.8mm) R&P focuser, and B3400 blocking filter.

Solar observing in H-alpha:
The LS130MT/B3400 is a complete telescope for observing the sun in H-alpha light, with 130mm free aperture (no central obstruction) and 910mm focal length. The H-alpha wavelength is the most impressive way to observe the sun, showing protuberances at the sun's edge, filaments and flares on the surface, and much more. An internal Etalon filter achieves a bandwidth of <0.7 Angstrom with the innovative air pressure tuning system Pressure-Tuner. Tuning is done by slightly changing the air pressure in a pressure chamber inside the telescope. This changes the refractive index of the air, making it easy to tune to the H-alpha line. The pressure tuner guarantees a homogeneous image, without central obstruction, and a permanently protected Etalon without erosion. A set of collimating lenses installed in the telescope ensures best performance.
Fine adjustment is achieved with a solid 2 inch R&P focuser with 10:1 reduction.
Blocking-filter is the B3400. The B3400 is good for solar imaging by cameras with very large sensor chips, and can also be used for visual observing.
The B3400 blocking-filter is fix installed inside the 2 inch R&P focuser.

Observing the starry night sky:
The H-Alpha Etalon system can be removed from the telescope in a few easy steps thanks to its modular design. Then the 3-lens apochromatic refractor can be used as a normal telescope with 130mm aperture and 910mm focal length for observation and photography of the night sky. The FPL-51 triplet lens offers an outstandingly low colour aberration image. Common 2 inch star diagonals can be used at the R&P focuser of the telescope.
Please note that the optionally available conversion kit 0551696 is absolutely necessary for the LS130MT version with B3400 blocking filter if the telescope is also to be used at night. The conversion kit is not required for the versions with B1200 and B1800.

More applications:
With additionally available accessories the LS130MT offers even more possibilities!
- Double-Stack
The LS130MT telescope can optionally be upgraded with the additionally available double-stack module LS130MT/DSII (item number 0551690). The DSII system is a internal double-stack module with Pressure-Tuner. Thereby a bandwidth of <0.5 Angstrom is achieved for H-alpha solar observation. Therefore much more details on the solar surface will become visible.
- Solar observing in White-Light
If the H-alpha unit has been removed, of course either a sun filter can be installed in front of the objective, or a Herschel-wedge at the focuser can be used to observe the sunspots in White-Light.
- Solar observing in Ca-K wavelength
The additionally available "LUNT Ca-K Filter Module for LS130MT" (item number 0551697) can be used on the LS130MT to observe and photograph super-granulation and other effects visible at this wavelength on the sun.

This makes the LS130MT a completely universal usable apochromatic telescope of highest quality!

Warning notes
  • Safety instructions: There are certain dangers when observing the sun, regardless of the telescope used. Lunt-Solar-Systems places great emphasis on the safety of their products during manufacture. Your safety is the highest priority, and we ask that you carefully read the telescope manual before beginning solar observation. Please never disassemble the telescope! Never use it if it has been modified or damaged in any way! Always contact our customer service if you have any questions regarding the safety of your instrument. Never look at the sun with an unprotected eye or with a telescope not intended for solar observation! Never leave your telescope unattended while it is pointed at the sun! Other people who are unfamiliar with it might attempt to replace the block filter with another prism, unaware of how critical this filter is for safety. The components of Lunt-Solar-Systems telescopes are not interchangeable with those of other manufacturers. Lunt-Solar-Systems solar telescopes contain several different optical elements that have been precisely adjusted and mounted during manufacture. These systems require no maintenance. Never disassemble the telescope. Doing so will void the warranty, potentially leading to expensive repairs, and may cause future damage to your instrument, compromising your safety! Most Lunt-Solar-Systems telescopes and filters include a very sensitive optical component called an Etalon. These Etalons are built into the system to protect them as best as possible. Countless considerations have been made to ensure the best performance of this "heart" of every system, even under the daily stresses it inevitably faces, such as shocks and vibrations during transport or regular use. Nevertheless, it should never be dropped. Improper use of the telescope can damage the Etalon (not a warranty case) and render the system unusable until repaired. The instrument should always be stored in its original packaging or in the optional transport case (item number 0554010). Like any optical precision instrument, it should be stored in a dry environment. With proper care, you will enjoy your instrument for a lifetime!

LUNT CAA-RF 0.8x reducer/field-flattener for nighttime photography with LS80MT, LS100MT & LS130MT telescopes
Field-flattener and focal length reducer for deep-sky astrophotography. Designed for the multipurpose APO telescopes of the Lunt-Solar-Systems LS80MT, LS100MT and LS130MT series. At the telescopes of the MT series from Lunt Solar Systems, the H-Alpha filter unit for solar observation can be removed, then these telescopes can be used as high quality ED APO's for observing and photographing the night sky. This accessory for the LS80MT, LS100MT and LS130MT telescopes shortens the focal length by a factor of 0.8x, providing a larger field of view for deep-sky astrophotography. This also allows shorter exposure times. At the same time, the field of view is flattened for photography. On the camera side, the reducer/field-flattener has a T2 male thread (M42x0.75). DSLR cameras can be connected here directly with a normal T2 ring. For other cameras, an M48x0.75 male thread is available in addition to the T2 male thread. The distance between reducer/field-flattener and camera sensor should be around 50 to 55mm.An M64x1 thread is provided on the telescope side. This allows to connect the reducer/field flattener to the focusers of the conversion kits for the LS80MT, LS100MT and LS130MT telescopes. Please note that for using the reducer/field flattener at the LS80MT, LS100MT or LS130MT telescopes, the corresponding conversion kit for night-time use of the telescope is absolutely necessary..FEATURESShortens focal length of F/7 ED telescopes by a factor of 0.8xFlattened field of view for photographyT2 thread and M48x0.75 thread for camera connectionWorking distance 50 to 55mmSCOPE OF DELIVERY0.8x reducer/field-flattenerAdapter to T2 thread (M42x0.75) and to M48x0.75

LUNT PCUSB Pressure-Tuner Controller with USB
Electronic Control unit with USB connection for one LUNT Pressure-Tuner system. The PC-USB is a microprocessor controlled pressure control system that can be retrofitted to any LUNT instrument (except LS50THa) with Pressure-Tuner (PT), without return to the Lunt facility. A simple air-pipe connects the PC-USB to the Pressure-Tuner. All existing PT systems (except LS50THa) can be retrofitted via an included adapter to the pressure tuner knob. The PC-USB can be used at any altitude. The PC-USB controller can be manually operated directly by the control panel at the housing, or via a computer by USB connection (Windows 7 or higher needed). A USB cable with USB-B plug is necessary for operating by a computer, this USB cable is not included. You will find the software for download on this webpage above at the tab "Manuals".Upon power up the PC-USB will go thru a systems vent and ambient pressure set mode. This will take around 60 seconds. The PC-USB is a simple 2 button system. One button for increasing and one button for decreasing the PT pressure. Digital feedback and indicator lights are provided. The PC-USB is accurate to 0.027 Bar (0.4 PSI), providing very precise control of the pressure setpoint. The PC-USB will auto-compensate for fluctuations in internal pressure changes due to significant changes in temperature. The PC-USB can be user programmed to center wavelength set point. Due to the sealed nature of the system, the center wavelength set point will remain constant at any altitude at a given set pressure point. Because the PC-USB can provide closed-loop feedback of internal etalon pressure users can correlate change in pressure to doppler shifted events.Normally the telescope shakes while you are tuning mechanically. Especially if you use high magnification, for example for observing the Doppler effect at a filament. With the PC-USB system there will be absolutely no shaking of the telescope while tuning at all magnifications, so observing Doppler shifted events will become more comfortable. The PC-USB can run continuously on internal battery power for more than 8 hours. It has external power input (15V DC) that can power the unit and charge the internal batteries simultaneously.SCOPE OF DELIVERYLUNT PC-USB Control SystemAdapter for PT knob3m air-pipeAC-adapter (with Euro-plug)Please note that this controller is not compatible with LS50THa series telescopes!

LUNT LS2HW 50.8mm (2'') Herschel-wedge
Herschel-wedge / Solar-wedge for superior White-Light solar observing and imaging. For refractor-telescopes up to 150mm aperture, and with 2'' focuser. Complete system with installed ND3.0 filter.Herschel-Wedges will be used to observe the sun in White-Light. Around 95 % of the sun light will be suppressed by the Herschel Wedge. The remaining sun light will be dimmed by a fix installed ND3.0 grey filter. Lunt Solar Systems Herschel-wedges are installed in a fully closed housing with integrated heat trap. There is no stray light escaping, therefore it is very safe. The difference between Herschel-wedges and normal front mounted filters is, that the filtering takes place just before the eyepiece or camera. This will provide a better contrast and sharpness of the solar image.Furthermore, there is more safety at a Herschel-wedge than at a front mounted filter. A Herschel-wedge can not rip or become holes like a foil. And also it can not drop down from the telescope objective accidentally.Only for use with refractor telescopes up to 150mm aperture:Because the full energy and heat of the sun will be inside the telescope, we advise to use only refractors with a Herschel-wedge. The refractor must not have corrector lenses at the back. Optical elements like corrector lenses, or secondary mirrors of reflector telescopes, become very hot by the concentrated solar energy and could be damaged.Tuning the brightness:Because the Herschel-wedge produce polarized light, you can use a normal polarizing filter at the eyepiece or camera-adapter. By turning the polarizing filter the brightness will be reduced.Polarizing filter not included. We recommend the BRESSER 2'' polarizing filter 4946465.FEATURESFor refractor-telescopes up to 150mm apertureConnection to telescope: 2''Connection to eyepiece: 2''90° housing like star-diagonalEspecially high-quality optical surfaces for very good contrastFully closed housing with integrated heat trapNo stray light escaping - therefore it is very safeThe needed ND3.0 filter is fix installedSCOPE OF DELIVERYHerschel-wedge for 2'' focuserIntegrated ND3.0 filterHardcaseInstruction manual

Additionally, the f/8.0 refractor includes a central ED lens in the objective, which reduces chromatic aberration to an absolute minimum. An optional Focal Reducer (not included) can reduce the aperture ratio to 1:5.6, allowing for faster results in astrophotography. The integrated field flattener ensures a sharp image all the way to the edge of the field of view – an essential requirement for high-quality images of celestial bodies. With the 60 mm ring on the focuser, you can use 2'' eyepieces with the telescope or attach a camera adapter. The AX103S has been specifically designed for photographic applications and corrected for full-frame photography. However, it is also a visual delight, particularly for observing the moon and planets. This excellent telescope is guaranteed to impress you for a lifetime! The SXP2WL Mount in Detail Stronger Mount HousingThe SXP2WL mount features larger bearings than previous models to increase accuracy and load capacity. Additionally, the mount housing is made of thicker material. To make the polar block even more stable, the axis cross is clamped firmly into a fork. Very Precise Tracking with P-PEC FunctionThe SXP2WL mount is supplied with the modern STAR BOOK TEN controller. It offers a P-PEC function for highly precise tracking. The term 'PEC' stands for Periodic Error Correction. This system corrects errors in the mechanics, caused by periodic inaccuracies in the gear system. The P-PEC function saves your correction data even after the power is switched off, so you don't need to re-enter the data each time, allowing for faster operation and more precise tracking. Low-Noise Belt Drive System with Minimal BacklashIn conventional motor drive systems for equatorial mounts, gears are used to transmit power from the motor. However, this design can introduce a certain amount of backlash between the gears. To avoid the inaccuracies caused by this, the SXP2WL mount features a belt drive system, which significantly reduces both backlash and drive noise. Additionally, the system responds faster to any necessary corrections. 16 BearingsThe mechanical parts of the SXP2WL mount include a total of 16 bearings. The RA axis uses a set of tapered roller bearings to achieve more stability for more precise tracking. Stable Polar Altitude Block for AlignmentThe SXP2WL mount uses the same fork as the heavier AXJ mount. This new design allows for quick and stable latitude adjustment. Easy and Accurate Polar Alignment Using Reference StarsThe 6x20 polar finder scope is pre-installed. This allows you to set up the polar alignment (for both the northern and southern hemispheres). The polar finder offers a variable illuminated reticle with an automatic shut-off feature. Brightness is adjustable in 8 levels, so you can tailor it to your individual needs. The polar finder is also equipped with a direct setting using three reference stars and can achieve an accuracy of up to 3 arcminutes. Variable Mount HeadThe mount head has a diameter of 35 mm and eight threaded holes for M8 screws, arranged at 45-degree intervals. An optional accessory plate can be attached directly or in combination with an optional dovetail mounting block. In addition, the threaded holes on the mount head allow the use of mounting rails from other manufacturers. Combination of Innovative, Elegant Design and User-Friendly OperationThe stable, rigid mount body with very precise tracking has been further optimized by the P-PEC function. The SXP2WL is a highly precise and easy-to-use mount that is sure to excite any astrophotographer or observer. Special Motor Mounting for Fewer CounterweightsThe heavy RA and DEC motor units are mounted in the lower part of the declination axis, so the centre of gravity of the axis cross is below the RA and DEC axis. This means the declination body acts as a counterweight. The flat mounting head also allows the mount to be balanced with significantly fewer counterweights. Retractable Counterweight BarThe counterweight bar is made of solid stainless steel and has a diameter of 20 mm. It allows you to use all the counterweights of the SX and GP mount series. The counterweight bar is housed in the declination body. Accessory ShoeFor easy and quick polar alignment, the #35511 polar meter can be slid onto this shoe.Latitude AdjustmentThe latitude can be adjusted between 0 and 70 degrees (divided into 3 zones and adjustable +/- 15 degrees per zone for high, medium, and low latitudes). The Vixen WiFi Adapter in Detail The Vixen WiFi Adapter for EQ mounts enables you to control your Vixen mount via a smartphone or tablet. Using the free STAR BOOK Wireless smartphone app, you can navigate the skies without any cables. The app instantly transforms your mobile device into a controller for the equatorial mount. The response delay of the mount, which is often the main drawback of wireless connections, has been minimized to a level comparable to wired solutions. Reduced Power Consumption Compared to Conventional LCD ControllersThe power consumption of the mount is reduced by up to 20%, enabling longer observation periods compared to traditional wired controllers like the STAR BOOK TEN. Similar Operation to the STAR BOOK TEN ControllerThe STAR BOOK Wireless app is designed similarly to the STAR BOOK TEN controller, offering up to 259,000 celestial objects, depending on the star chart settings. Simply tap a celestial object in the object list and initiate GoTo slewing. The mount will automatically move to the selected target and bring it into the telescope's field of view. All the beloved features of the STAR BOOK TEN remain available. Comfortable OperationWhen looking through the telescope, you can operate the mount by swiping on the star chart in the app. With no buttons, you simply slide your finger across the star chart, making the mount easy to control. Extensive Astronomical Data IncludedIn addition to data on well-observed celestial objects like Messier objects, NGC objects, IC objects, the sun, moon, planets, comets, and dwarf planets, the app also includes data for other objects. High-Precision AlignmentAligning the mount with one or two stars will give you fairly accurate positioning. With three or more stars, you can achieve highly precise alignment for high magnifications. The objects will then be centered in the telescope’s field of view. Alignment information is saved and retained even when the device is powered off. If you leave the telescope in its current state after completing an observation, you can start the automatic installation with the same settings the next time. Customizable SettingsThe app offers similar customization options to the STAR BOOK TEN controller, including backlash compensation, night mode in red, autoguider support, variable GoTo speed, and LED brightness adjustment. You can also configure when the telescope tube will flip (meridian flip). Even when the object is moving south during tracking, you can prevent the telescope tube from flipping. EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC Ultra Light 20'' Dobson 500mm f/3.6 GENERATION II
Ultra Light Dobsonian 500mm GENERATION II - telescope mechanics handcrafted in HUNGARY and GERMANY No telescope type has influenced amateur astronomy as radically as the dobsonian telescope. Before the introduction of this telescope type by John Dobson the vast majority of amateur telescopes were small inadequate refractors on shaky mounts - just good enough to show the polar regions on mars or the rings of Saturn. Bigger telescopes, like the Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, were restricted to the relatively small group of amateurs that could afford them. The brilliant combination of simple - but effective - mechanics and the largest aperture available led to a worldwide triumph of this concept. No other telescope type offers you so much light for your money as a good dobson. We have taken the motto held together by gravity and driven by yoghurt power and offer a modern version of the classic - designed by amateur astronomers for amateur astronomers. Despite its large aperture the telescope can be transported easily even in small cars and is assembled within minutes without tools. The construction was optimized for maximum rigidity with a minimum of mass. The combination of big altitude wheels and a optimized aluminium-sandwich construction allows for small movements even at high magnifications. The focus position is already positioned to accept our coma-corrector (part No. 0510330) . The ideal workhorse for the deep-sky enthusiast. A telescope with 500mm aperture gathers more than 5100-times more light than the naked eye. Details on planetary surfaces stand out even to unexperienced observers, and countless deep-sky objects show details and some color. Bright globular clusters are resolved down to the core and the view of the lunar terminator will provide a unforgettable experience. The fast 20’’ f3.6 main mirror as well as the large 120mm secondary mirror are made of high quality quartz material, so the cooling time is reduced to a minimum and the Dobson is quickly ready for use. Every main mirror is delivered with an individual optical test certificate, which guarantees the highest capacity. A laser engraved center mark of the main mirror allows easy adjustment. The optical surface has a high-quality aluminum silvering with 94% reflectivity and an extremely resistant quartz protection layer. The mirror overcomes frequently occurring dew fogging and cleanups without any damages and guarantees a long service life. A complete redesign of this Dobson was necessary to ensure the significantly increased requirements to stiffness and load bearing capacity of the optical components. All connections of the tube structure were made in the TIG welding process and no rivets and screws were used. This has made it possible for us to produce this 20’’ light weight Dobson so unbelievably stiff in spite of the low weight - a noticeably good quality which is searching for its match. The production of almost all mechanical components is carried out by our partners in Hungary and the final assembly of the optics and subsequent quality control takes place in Rhede, Germany. The equipment details of the smaller Dobson models, which have been popular for years, have been taken over and even extended considerably. First of all, of course, the very good decomposability and transportability should be mentioned. Set-up and dismantling can be carried out without tools. The main and secondary mirrors are adjustable during the observation and only two adjusting screws have to be moved. Thanks to the use of precision ball-heads in the main mirror cell and a precision hinge for secondary mirror suppport, the adjustment is absolutely easy and guarantees excellent stability. All connecting parts of the tube trusses now consist of CNC machined aluminum and are attached by stainless steel dowel screws. The secondary mirror can now also be adjusted by the adjusting screws in the direction of the optical axis. The tried and tested 2.5’’ HEXAFOC focuser with 1:10 fine adjustment has been used for years - this allows vignetting-free observation despite the fast aperture ratio. A second 40° displaced installed mounting plate with a viewfinder shoe allows the rotation of the tube top in combination with a favorable position of the viewfinder tube or the mounting of an additional TELRAD viewfinder. The 6 supporting feet underneath the rockerbox offer a perfect stability and guarantee a smooth tracking in azimuth. Four smaller fans are installed in the side of the mirror box as well as a large fan is installed under the main mirror. This allows an even quicker adaptation to the ambient temperature and reduces the tube seeing (boundary layer removal). The lateral altitude wheels can now be stowed comfortably in the foam layers of the mirror box. Last but not least another gimmick: The optical tube and the mirror cell are designed to use also on heavy equatorial mounts.
