Product information "PULSAR Thermal Imaging Binoculars Merger Duo"
The Merger Duo NXP50 is an innovative multispectral binocular that combines thermal imaging and digital night vision in a single device, offering enhanced detection, recognition, and identification capabilities. The Merger Duo NXP50 captures high-quality images in different wavelength spectra (visible, near infrared, and long-wave infrared), making it a truly versatile device for observation at any time of day and in all weather conditions. Merger Duo takes advantage of both technologies, making it easier to locate an object with the thermal imager, assess the terrain with the digital night vision camera, and clearly identify even the smallest features and details of the object using the combined viewing modes.
Thermal imaging, digital, and combined display mode
The Merger Duo supports multiple observation modes. The thermal imaging mode is used for detecting and observing animals in all weather conditions, while the digital image mode enables enhanced target identification in full HD resolution. The picture-in-picture function allows simultaneous display of images from both optical channels, with either the thermal or the digital image given priority.
Highly sensitive thermal sensor
The extremely sensitive 640x480 pixel @ 17 µm thermal imaging sensor with a NETD <25 mK delivers stunning thermal image quality and perfect detail recognition, even in very unfavourable weather conditions when thermal contrast is low. This makes even the smallest temperature differences clearly visible in rain, fog, or cold mornings the most challenging conditions for thermal imagers.
Extra low-light digital full-HD night vision
The image produced by the Merger Duo NXP50s digital night vision channel is characterised by high resolution and excellent detail rendering. Silhouettes, anatomical differences, behavioural features the high-resolution electronics reveal the trophy qualities of an animal and provide the hunter with the information needed to make an informed shooting decision.
IR illuminator
The Merger Duo NXP50 comes with an attachable, invisible 940 nm IR illuminator with adjustable spot positioning, increasing the digital channels detail accuracy in pitch-dark conditions.
User mode
Use the brightness and contrast settings to maximise image detail and clarity under specific observation conditions. The user mode function stores the selected brightness and contrast settings in the devices memory, allowing you to enjoy optimal image quality the next time you use the thermal imager without the need for additional adjustments.
Advanced Pulsar Image Boost technology
Pulsar Image Boost gives the Merger Duo thermal imager maximum detail, clarity, and contrast through a range of innovative image processing algorithms. The multispectral Merger Duo binoculars reproduce complex scenes in a wide range of halftones with evenly radiant, low-contrast objects such as sky, grass, and water surfaces. By detailing and sharpening objects at various distances through software, the thermal image becomes extremely rich in information. Manual sensitivity amplification of the thermal imaging sensor improves animal detection quality when observation conditions worsen. A smoothing filter and a wide range of brightness and contrast settings allow comfortable observation over extended periods.
Fast F50/1.0 thermal imaging lens
The characteristics of the thermal imaging optics have a decisive influence on the thermal imagers ability to detect even the lowest levels of radiation. Combined with the highly sensitive thermal imaging sensor, the fast F50/1.0 lens of the Merger Duo ensures maximum detection efficiency. The Merger Duo consistently delivers high-quality, detailed, and contrast-rich informative images, even in rain or fog, when the temperature contrast in the observed scene is minimal.
Invisible IR illuminator for enhancing digital channel image details
The Merger Duo NXP50 comes with an attachable, invisible IR illuminator (940 nm) that improves image detail in the digital channel at night. The three-step power adjustment allows the user to select the preferred observation distance and illumination intensity of the observed objects. Fine-tuning the IR spot position enables the highest illumination intensity to be placed in a desired area of the field of view.
8 colour palettes to choose from
With a choice of 8 colour palettes, the user can better observe the field of view, optimise the device for specific tasks, and respond to changing observation conditions. White Hot, Black Hot, and Red Hot are optimal for detecting objects, Rainbow and Ultramarine increase the chances of detection and identification. Red Monochrome, Sepia, and Violet are best for long night-time observations.
High-contrast HD-AMOLED displays
While the HD-AMOLED displays of the Merger deliver a sharp, high-contrast, and colourful field of view, AMOLED technology ensures a flawless, smooth, high-resolution image while saving power.
1,800 m thermal detection range
The advantage of thermal imaging technology is the early detection of animals day and night. At night, it is the most effective way to spot game at great distances. With its high-quality long-focal-length optics and highly sensitive sensor, the Merger Duo offers outstanding range performance a 1.8 m tall object can be detected in complete darkness from up to 1,800 m away.
Comfortable observation
The optical design of the Merger binoculars fully accounts for the nature of human vision. Humans naturally receive visual information through two visual channels simultaneously. Viewing with both eyes is less tiring than monocular vision. This allows the Merger to detect small or faint objects more easily and perform better in low-contrast scenarios than comparable monocular thermal imaging devices at the same technical level. The interpupillary distance of the Merger binoculars is adjustable from 62 to 74 mm to suit the individual characteristics of the user.
Comfortable classic binocular design
The Merger Duo multispectral binoculars are built in the classic daylight binocular design. With its compact form factor, these binoculars fit comfortably in the hand while still offering an aesthetic appearance and exemplary ergonomics. The six function buttons are easily accessible, and the most frequently used digital functions are activated with a single touch.
Built-in photo and video recorder
The Merger Duo has a built-in video recorder. The internal memory can store hours of video footage and tens of thousands of photos. A single press of a button is all it takes to photograph an interesting subject or start video recording.
Dual battery system
The Merger Duo is powered by two rechargeable batteries: one built-in with a capacity of 4 Ah, and one replaceable with a capacity of 3.2 Ah. A single charge guarantees up to 7 hours of battery life. The embossing on the body of the replaceable battery allows quick and safe replacement in complete darkness by touch alone.
Proximity sensor for discreet use
Observation in the dark requires discretion to avoid alerting game animals. The display off function in standby mode is a common method to prevent light from the eyepieces escaping. To simplify this task, the Merger Duo has a built-in proximity sensor. It acts as a display switch to prevent light leakage from the screens at night. When the device is moved away from the eyes, the proximity sensor switches off both displays, and when brought back to the eyes, both displays are switched on, delivering excellent image quality.
Ergonomic and functional carrying case
A hunter needs to move quickly. Good equipment is defined by being available when needed and unnoticeable the rest of the time. The Merger Duos case has an elegant exterior, is user-friendly, and comfortable to carry. The device can be quickly and easily removed and put into position. The optimal strap positioning distributes the thermal imagers weight across the hunters body, reducing strain on shoulders, back, and neck. The case sits close to the body without hindering free movement, bending, twisting, or crawling, and without interfering with weapon use. In addition, the Merger Duos case is equipped with straps for attachment to a waist belt and to gear with a modular MOLLE mounting system, including backpacks and carrying straps.
Stream Vision 2: Wi-Fi integration with iOS and Android devices
The built-in Wi-Fi connects the Merger Duo to Android and iOS smartphones via the Stream Vision 2 mobile application. This offers a variety of possibilities, such as wireless software updates for the device, real-time image transfer from the device to the smartphone screen, publishing photos and videos taken with the device on social media or sending them via messenger apps, remote control of digital device functions, and access to the latest Pulsar news. Registered users also receive 16 GB of cloud storage for photos and videos taken with the device.
Support for two Wi-Fi frequency bands 2.4 / 5 GHz
In the Merger Duo thermal imaging binoculars, the standard 2.4 GHz smartphone connection band is complemented by an efficient 5 GHz band. The 5 GHz connection provides better bandwidth, faster data transfer rates, resistance to interference, and improved connection stability, resulting in more productive and straightforward operation of the thermal imaging binoculars with a smartphone.
Robust magnesium alloy housing
The Merger Duo is designed for constant, often intensive use. The magnesium alloy housing is both lightweight and strong, reliably protecting the internal components of the thermal imager from shocks, drops, moisture, heat, and cold. At the same time, the metal housing effectively dissipates heat from the electronics, increasing operational stability during long-term observation.
Waterproof to IPX7 (submersible)
Waterproof to IPX7 for protection against heavy rain, snow, or other moisture: the device is designed to operate flawlessly even after immersion in up to 1 metre of water for up to 30 minutes.
Operation in extreme temperatures from -25 to +50 °C
The housing, batteries, optics, and electronics of the Merger Duo are designed for applications across a wide temperature range. The Merger Duo ensures reliable and effective performance in freezing cold down to -25 °C.
