The Vixen corrector PH is a 3-element Wynne corrector for demanding applications. Designed for the Vixen R200SS Newtonian reflector, but also suitable for other optics with similar specifications.The optical design consists of 3 lenses in 3 groups. The corrector provides excellent correction of system-induced coma of parabolic mirrors and the resulting spherical aberration. The corrected field has a diameter of 44 mm, making it suitable for the 24x36 mm format (full-frame DSLR/CCD cameras). Made in Japan and designed for astrophotography, this premium extender lens system converts the R200SS parabolic mirror Newton reflector into an F5.6 astrograph. The Extender PH kit was developed to increase the focal length by a factor of 1.4x It increases the focal length of the 800 mm (F4) R200SS Newton reflector to 1120 mm (F5.6). The optical system structure of 4 elements in 3 groups corrects the coma error to render sharp images up to the edge of the field of view. The extender illuminates the field of a full-frame camera (44 image circle). When used in combination with the eyepiece adapter, the 31.7 mm eyepiece can be used for visual observations. The same anti-reflective AS coatings used on our high-end VSD 100 f/3.8 astrograph are also used here to provide an outstanding light transmission of 99.9% per lens surface. The completely matte surface in the interior keeps loss of light, ghosting and scattered light to a minimum. When used with the 50.8 mm eyepiece adapter, the extender PH kit provides a high-performance Barlow lens for visual observations and eliminates coma and aberrations over the entire field of view. A new 81 mm apochromatic refractor with high-performance Super ED glass (= SD). The advantage of these SD refractors is their short length and low weight.The FPL53 glass reproduces an extremely clear and sharp image due to an exceptionally high elimination of residual colour errors. The SD glass is designed to bring all rays of violet, red, blue, yellow and green together very precisely on the same plane. Thus, the special lens material reduces chromatic aberration across all colours.The new Vixen SD81SII no longer uses spacer plates, which leads to significantly better image quality, especially with bright stars. This means that there are no more spikes on the stars in photographic images, which were otherwise produced by the spacer plates. You will be thrilled when you look at the moon or the brighter planets and observe the moon craters pin sharp and with an extremely high contrast. This is necessary in order to obtain a point-shaped star image on the astrophotos during long time exposures and to avoid unwanted star trails. For this purpose, the guiding telescope is inserted into the existing viewfinder shoe of the photo-taking optics and aligned parallel. If the existing viewfinder shoe is not compatible, a suitable viewfinder shoe is also included. With the 1.25 inch / 31,7mm plug connection at the rear end or via T2 thread connection (M42x0,75mm), a tracking camera can be mounted afterwards.
