The SXD 2 mount in detail
With a combination of the best features from the Sphinx series and the all-new STAR BOOK TEN manual control, Vixen has developed a new generation of SX mounts for demanding observers and astrophotographers. The SXD2 mount comes with the new STAR BOOK TEN control and can be operated manually or with a computer.
Featuring the same precision stepper motors as the top-of-the range AXD mount, the SXD2 sets a new standard for performance in the Vixen mount range. Compared with the SX mounts, the SXD2 has a quieter tracking system, and the increased precision of the motors provides better performance for the long exposure times used in astrophography.
Precision stepper motors and micro-step motion control system
The star feature of the SXD2 is the precision stepper motors, which offer better performance and responsiveness than previous models. The micro-step motion control system has powerful yet very quiet drive characteristics that offer both fine control and quick swivel movements.
Built-in bearings
The bearings of the RA and DEC axles and the worm shafts were significantly improved in order to reduce the load on the motors. The motors are much quieter than those on previous models.
Robust RA and DEC axles
High-precision and thick steel shafts in RA and DEC increase the robustness of the SXD2 mount.
High-precision worm gears
High-precision processing technologies were used to rectify problems with the worm gear. The edges of both worms and worm gears are particularly smooth, which enables them to deliver very high precision.
Declination axis functions as counterweight
The sturdy motor units are located in the lower section of the declination axis to ensure that the SDX2’s centre of gravity is below the intersection of the RA and DEC axis. As a result, fewer additional counterweights are required.
The SD115S in detail
The ED81SII, ED103S and ED115S refractors were originally designed for visual observers or photographers with an APS-C camera. The new SD series features new inner panels which are optimised for full-frame cameras and illuminates images with a frame size of 44 mm.
The SD 115 ED refractor is the largest refractor in the Vixen range.
Thanks to the FPL-53 lens, it offers an extremely high contrast and sharpness.
This type of lens produces true colour and high-contrast images.
Another advantage of the SD refractors is their very short length and lightweight design.

Adjusting your eyes to the dark surroundings is very important when making astronomical observations.
In dark areas, it is very difficult to use astronomical equipment without a suitable light.
With normal lights, however, the light intensity is more important than protecting your eyes against bright light.
Using these lights at night makes your pupils contract, which can make it difficult for your eyes to readjust to the darkness.
The SG-L01, our first astronomy LED lamp, featured a built-in red LED that provided a solution to this problem.
However, the red light did not offer optimal visibility. On our new astronomy LED light, the SG-L02, the LED lights produce warm light to improve visibility.
They also ensure that your eyes stay adapted to the dark.
The LEDs do not emit light in the sensitive range of 555 nm.
The brightness of the white light can be adjusted between 3 and 42 lumen, while the red light can be adjusted between 0.28 and 7.62 lumen.

Portable power storage (mobile power bank) in maxi format from BRESSER. With a powerful and rechargeable 155Wh lithium-ion battery and various connection options, almost all common electronic devices can be operated and charged. This means that you always have sufficient energy reserve, whether for tough outdoor use, in the garden or in the event of a power failure at home. Including a switchable red light LED lamp with emergency signal function and a red light bar for orientation in the dark with over 100 hours of light duration. The Mobile Power Station is a silent and environmentally friendly alternative to power generators with combustion engines. With its sophisticated optical design incorporating five lens elements in five groups (Quintuplet), including two SD (Super ED) lenses and one ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lens, this astrograph delivers a virtually aberration-free optical system. The convex lens utilises two SD lenses and a high-refractive ED lens, while the front lens is crafted from a newly developed high-performance lanthanum glass.
Perfect for astrophotography and visual observation This revolutionary astrograph is compatible with digital full-frame DSLRs and even larger 44 x 33 mm cameras. With its fast F5.5 aperture ratio, the 70mm astrograph produces exceptionally sharp, high-contrast, pinpoint stars from the centre to the very edges of the field of view. Not only is it ideal for astrophotography, but it also excels in visual observation, offering a wide field of view for deep-sky objects and delivering stunning detail in planetary observation with high magnification.
Consistently sharp imaging across the entire field The VSD70ss is designed with a long peak range in focus adjustment accuracy, making it easier for astrophotographers to achieve consistently outstanding results. Even if the focus isn’t set perfectly, stars remain round and sharp across the entire image field. The VSD70ss is very temperature-resistant so that you always keep a very stable focus point.
Minimal vignetting for uniform illuminationMost astrographs experience some level of optical vignetting (light gradually diminishes towards the image edges). This is mainly caused by the rear lenses being shadowed by the front lenses. As a result, photographers often need to apply image corrections or capture additional flat frames beforehand. The VSD70ss tackles this issue with large-aperture lenses in the rear elements and preserves over 90% of the light all the way to the edge of its 55mm image circle. The result is uniform brightness across the entire field, eliminating the need for extensive post-processing to compensate for edge darkening.
The VSD70ss features cutting-edge multi-coatings with exceptionally high reflectivity. These coatings have been specially designed to optimise the performance of each individual lens element, ensuring maximum contrast and light transmission without degradation across multiple lenses.

96.7% Strehl for stunning visual observations When paired with a wide-angle eyepiece with low magnification the VSD70ss offers a flattened large field of view. Even with a high-quality wide-field eyepiece with a large field of view, stars appear sharp across the entire field of view during visual observation. At the centre of the field, the telescope achieves an impressive 96.7% Strehl intensity at visible wavelengths—surpassing even the acclaimed SD81SII apochromat with its 95.7% Strehl ratio. This superior optical quality is also evident when observing the Moon and planets at high magnifications.
Large, versatile, and stable focuser The VSD70ss has a large focuser with a diameter of 87.5mm to make optimum use of the large 55mm field of illumination. Designed to support a wide range of accessories, this large focuser is perfect for astrophotography, accommodating everything up to large-format cameras or 35mm full-frame DSLR cameras. Its precision manufacturing ensures excellent stability, preventing any tilting even when using heavy imaging equipment.
Optional VSD reducer for even faster resultsThe new reducer has been specially developed for the VSD90ss and the VSD70ss. At a focal ratio of 1:3.9. the photographer gets even faster results in astrophotography.
Compatible with motorised focusersTo enable sensitive focusing, an optional dual-speed motor focuser is available for the VSD70ss. Additionally, an EAF (Electronic Automatic Focuser) from ZWO or a compatible system can be retrofitted.
